Junya Watanabe

Junya Watanabe is a Japanese avant-garde designer who runs his own brand, Junya Watanabe Comme des Garçons, while working as a member of Comme des Garçons. After graduating from Bunka Fashion College in Japan in 1984, Watanabe presented his first solo collection under his own name in 1992 and earned worldwide recognition for original, experimental design. Watanabe is famous for dissecting and reconstructing essential pieces into new designs. His work carries singular elements such as geometric patterns, textures, and layered design, with a sense for completely reinventing existing styles. Watanabe's design draws attention not only in fashion but also in experimental work that crosses into the art world.
